My New Bestfriends Highlights

Rosalind Frances Holmes

Inspired by a contrast between strictness and softness, the masculine and the feminine. Bold solid structure contrasted with soft chiffon fabrics. Quite an androgynous mix and we love it!
This collection looked striking on the catwalk - I sensed an eerieness to the collection, particularly with the antler style constructions in the centre piece of the garments contrasted with billowing fabrics.

Fashionistas Night out proudly presented by My new Best friends X

Urban Spark were lucky enough to be invited to showcase our jewellery at 'Fashionistas night out' a really GREAT event with an even better course as all money raised when to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Kimberley Sanderson who sparkled the whole evening in her little silver sequin number, organised the whole evening at Bloomsbury Hotel, so a big thankks goes to her for lettting us being part of such a lovely evening.!

Me and Jordan, (who runs Individual threads was also invited to showcase) decided to road trip it down to London from Southsea. So much more entertaining is it to travel through London by car than tube, total luxury!. I'm not going to lie, we acted like total tourists taking pictures of the Natural History Museum lit up, waving and yelling at people. It made for an fun filled trip. We arrived at the hotel all hypedd up and were greeeted by Beth looking beautiful stood next to a Ferrari nonetheless.. As soon as we got in we were greeted by Samuel J Hextail the presenter. He's best friends with Paris Hilton apparently. After setting up we received champagne from the pink butlers; a couple cheeky lads who had nothing but a small pink apron to cover their bits and bobs. Didnt know where to look. We were also joined by Hardip who is one our spark models! We decided to have a nosey at the delights from other stalls. Elisha Francis was another jewellery designer there displaying beautiful vintage Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor inspired pieces, her head pieces were lush! (A blog featuring our favourite designers from the show will feature shortly!) Playful Promises showcased their sauccy lingerie, a must for any Spark girl I'd say.!

The show itself didn't disappoint. There was eclectic mix of collections by Lellow Lucy , Hussain Deyn, My most favourite part of the show was Agent Lynch. Now if we had to pick a spark girl this without a doubt would be her. Absolutely stunning and mad as.! Starting off as a present with bow and ribbon she stripped off to a bond girl and fired a shot from her gun at Jordan, lucky man. She then quickly whipped her clothes off to reveal her bikini made of pearls which she then proceeded to lasso across the chandeliers. Me Hardip and Beth were in oar. I want to join up to her classes!

Towards the end of the show, on my way back from my trip to the toilet I bumped into Dappy from N dubz ! Ha made my day. Got a cheeky look and down from the chapppy who was without his usual hat with bobbles. He is quite short without it.

Journey home was the best thanks to Jordan and his recommendations on food. We had a naughty little pitstop at the Bagel King where we grabbed some rice, peas and jerk chicken with loads of lashings of coleslaw. Sat chilling in the car with some Jamaican beats.I pretty much devoured mine in a second and fell asleep.

Unfortunately Nikki B was in bloody Thailand having the time of her and was not able to attend. Ordinary it would not be the end of the world. However Nikki B being the very clever lady she is designed the logo for the mynewbestfriends website. This logo was blown up into a banner and was pretty much on every piece of paper, bag, and booklet going at the show! We were so proud of her!! Cant wait for her return .! X

Here are a few pictures of the evening. Due to the lack of appearance of my camera lead I am being delayed in the uploading of pictures so more shall appear very shortly. Including a short interview with myself.!

Oooo la London fashion week ! S/S 2010

For the past four seasons I've been lucky enough to check out all the action from behind the scenes at LFW, working backstage. It's always pretty wild with broken shoes, smudged makeup, lost shorts, blood on clothing (stupid women) etc etc. Here's some snaps I managed to get at various shows from S/S 10, including Basso and Brooke, Henry Holland, Richard Nicolls, Louise Goldin and Redbull fashion factory. As luck would have it, my camera decided to be a pain the asssss and go all blurry on me. I personally think it makes it all look a little dreamy.

At the Richard Nicolls show I was able to get a cheeky picture of a beautiful Chinese model I was dressing, wearing a bit of Spark jewellery. Think she works the lamina well!

Red bull factory show -graduate show

The Gradute show held by The Redbull fashion factory I thought was the most impressive as with these designers, there are no restrictions, always ambitious. The scale of the dresses blew me away! The models were so elegant and walked beautifully and with grace, it was amazing..especially with the size of heel they were subjected to.
